"It's Never Too Late"
My daughter was attacked last year in a road rage incident, so the women in the family decided it was about time we learnt to look after ourselves.
We needed something which would suit a wide age range as I was 52, my daughter 30 and my granddaughter 8.
My son being ex-Army suggested Aikido so we took ourselves off to take a look. My daughter and granddaughter took one look and knew it was definately for them, I was not so sure for being older myself I wondered whether I would cope but decided to give it a try.
I need not have worried at all as from the very first night the age gap was not a barrier. Julie and Vicki, being younger, may pick it up quicker but I am not made to feel out of place at all, there is always somebody there to go over moves again and again if necessary, also the warmth and friendliness of the club is obvious as soon as you tread onto the mat.
They never tire of wanting to help you, it is like being a member of one large family all wanting to help each other, whilst at the same time doing something very worthwhile and extremely useful.
It's never too late.
P.S. There are people at the club twenty years my senior.
