The following is a brief history about Shun Poo Kan Aikido from Brian Burrows, Principal Instructor - 6th Dan.
1977
For personal reasons, the existing instructor at the Bridgnorth Dojo was unable to continue with the classes, therefore as his Uke and the next highest grade I was asked by Mr Smith if I would continue to provide instruction.
1978
I decided to open another Dojo a little nearer home at Ounsdale School, Wombourne.
1980
After getting the senior class at Ounsdale School established, I opened a separate junior class which has at present around 30 children.
1985
In conjunction with Alan Roberts, one of my Dan grades, I opened a Dojo in Tividale which ran for 9 years. As the attendance was very up and down, we decided in 1994 to relocate the club to Westfield School, Wombourne, to run on Monday evenings. Over the years the membership has increased and attendance is much more even.
1994
I opened another club at Westfield School to run on Wednesday evenings, subsequently becoming the second strongest club within Shun Poo Kan.
